Search engine optimization and search engine marketing are two terms that tend to get used interchangeably, but the two terms have very different meanings. In fact, the two terms often are argued upon considerably within the online community, with lots of differing opinions on how exactly to define them.
SEO is a combination of various techniques which are used to increase the visibility of company’s website. It is done by using various tags, image tags, Meta tags and descriptions, and targeted links. Because of this the visibility of the website in search results increase and more people are directed towards the website.
SEM does the somewhat same job but uses different techniques. SEM uses the techniques of paid ads for marketing purpose and increasing the visibility of the website.
All in all both SEO & SEM helps in increasing the visibility of the website in the search results, and this increased visibility in near future will reap high benefits for the company.
